CrossFit Games 2021 will be taking place in a few weeks and many CrossFit Games participants are very excited. Other than the traditional CrossFit Games, events for women will be held. The women's competition, Pegboard contests, Cutting system and Reebok equipment are all well-known. But, do you really know what to expect? Continue reading to find out! Women's competition

The 2021 Crossfit Games' women's competition started this morning with the swim race. Jonne and Tia Claire Toomey-Orr won the first competition. Koski was the overall champion after she maintained her lead throughout. Tall and Eramoo Connell were second and third, each. This was the first Games event for women and the women's team hoped to finish the podium.

The women's contest is filled with high-level athletes. Nine athletes are represented in the field, including a young Australian powerhouse who won last year's competition. Kara Saunders (Australian athlete) finished second in Australia. She was also eleventh worldwide for 2020. Andrea Nisler was also a rising star. In 2018, she competed in team division and came in third in the United States. She finished fifteenth in 2020. Aside from these athletes, the Women’s competition will also include a newcomer, Sara Sigmundsdottir, an Icelandan competitor, who won first place at the World Crossfit Games earlier.

Pegboard contest

Pegboard competition at Crossfit Games 2021 was the first. It was also added to the Games' Olympic summer program. Toomey-Orr held the record for most Games wins with 30. Sager won Event 11 and became the Games' third winner. There were several tie in the contest but Toomey Orr's dominance was too strong to stop him winning.

CrossFit Games athletes train by focusing on ten core physical skills: strength, flexibility and speed. Pegboard is a contest that tests competitor's grip strength as well as coordination. Two wooden pegs are held between the hands of each competitor to gauge their grip strength. The competition was fierce, and the athletes were left feeling a sense of accomplishment after completing the Pegboard.


System of cutting

CrossFit Games has a new cutting system for individual competition. Although it's not as drastic as previous Games, it is still quite different from this year. Because the competition is made up of 15 events, a cut to 30 athletes after the seventh or eighth event is very likely. CrossFit must also answer the question of how it will adjust the points following cuts. The scoring table used in the 2019 games was nearly identical to the one used in 2021, so it's likely that this will continue to be the case.

This year's CrossFit Games field includes 236 athletes. It is the largest ever. Major cuts occur in the first six events. The field is reduced down to 75 athletes. To determine the top ten, the top 30 athletes compete in a sprint tandem. The top 20 athletes will then compete in the six remaining events. Castro's system has been criticized by veterans Games athletes who feel that the cuts are too significant.

Reebok's equipment

Reebok announced new CrossFit Games footwear, clothing and other equipment. The new shoes are the Nano X1. They are built to accommodate multiple fitness needs. Reebok has billed this shoe as "the shoe of fitness," but it actually feels more like a traditional training shoe. DuPont’s Kevlar material is used to make the upper of this shoe, which promotes breathability as well as durability. The firm midsole and RopePro tech enhance the responsiveness of the shoes.

CrossFit's agreement with Reebok will end at 2020. No title sponsor will be available for the Games. Reebok has sponsored these Games for over a decade.
